In today’s tutorial, we are going to learn how to draw a lion face on paper. The design and proportion of each part will be pointed out in each step of the how-to article here. Observe that the blue lines are used to show the current shapes being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

1. Draw The Face

   

   First, draw the eyes by creating two ovals. Next, form the nose by creating a rounded shape and adding diagonal lines to both sides.

2. Form The Mouth

   

   Form the mouth by first creating rounded shapes connected to the nose. Add the bottom of the mouth by drawing a line curving upwards. Draw the dots and whiskers on the upper part of the mouth as shown.

3. Outline The Head

   

   Outline the top of the lion’s head by drawing a curved line.

4. Add The Ears

   

   Form the lion’s ears by drawing curved lines above the lion’s head.

5. Form The Mane

   

   Outline the lion’s mane by drawing a pointy shape around the head. Next, draw jagged lines at the base of the lion’s ears.

6. Complete The Lion Face Drawing

   

   Complete the lion’s face by adding some color! First, let’s color the lion’s beautiful mane and nose using a dark brown crayon. Next, let’s use a black crayon to shade the lion’s eyes. Now, use a light orange crayon to color the inner ears and mouth. Finally, let’s use an orange crayon to shade the rest of the lion’s head!
