In physics, scientists have an agreed convention for the way a mirror is drawn, as follows:

When we draw a ray diagram or represent a mirror in physics we use dashes on the non-shiny side. Above is a diagram of a flat mirror and these are sometimes called plane mirrors.

The above is a concave mirror and again the dashes are shown on the non-shiny side.

With dashes on the inside of a curved mirror, we have a convex mirror.
