- Tarantulas have the ability to turn their prey’s body into a liquid so that they can suck them up through their mouth, which is like a straw.
- Tarantulas are carnivores. They usually eat insects, but some species also prey on larger animals like lizards and frogs.
- In the wild, the average lifespan of a tarantula is 30 years old.
- The tarantula’s body can be as long as 5 inches. Their leg span can be up to 12 inches long from the end of the back leg to the end of the front leg.
- Tarantulas use their fangs to dig burrows in the ground, which is where they live.
- Tarantulas do not spin webs. Instead, they use their silk to make “doors” for the entryways of their burrows.
People keep tarantulas as pets. In some countries, people also eat tarantulas. Some species of tarantulas are endangered because of the pet trade and destruction of their natural habitats.
