I just dropped combat pistol and heavy shotgun.
Jump on random street car, press triangle on top or near the car, go away let the street despawn.
I changed session, in and out mission, close the game and restart, the two guns still not in my inventory. I finally got rid of them, thanks GTA God!
Edit : No tricks, just press triangle to drop any weapon will do.
Edit 2 : Still cant drop lamar's pistol

Well that's handy to know, might give that a try myself and see if it works.
Hopefully R* will not decide to patch this method for getting rid of weapons permanently as they like to fix things that can be useful.

What happens if you walk over one of those weapons (NPC dropped)?

That's the final test...
What do you expect? I dont think they will stick after changing session.

This has been an option since day one on last Gen. You use to be able to drop the pistol but when you swap sessions etc. It's back. But all others remain gone. If you were having an issue dropping a weapon before and it would pick it right back up, it because you were standing too close to where you drop it. Nothing new in other words

I suspect the reason why R* hasn't fixed this yet is because of dropped NPC weapons.
Players should be able to pick up weapons and ammo if they need/want it, but there's no in-game mechanism for a player to effectively say "I hate this weapon and never want to pick it up--even inadvertently" (i.e. ignore this weapon even when I walk over this it after it was dropped by a dead NPC). If you change your mind in the future, it would be a simple matter of buying it again from any Ammu-nation.That's what R* has to come up with a practical solution to.
Setting default weapons (or at least "the weapon you last used") each for on-foot, in cars, planes, choppers, and boats also needs to be implemented. Not to mention the weapon wheel becoming more and more cumbersome with each new weapon that's added.

If it says it can't be dropped here then move around a bit and try again. Most of the time you can't drop weapons if standing close to a wall or some other stupid things. You'll never lose the regular pistol and if you put a silencer on it you will always take the pill when killing yourself
With the weapons I think its a thing that you can't drop special weapons as well. This is to prevent those people who didn't get them from getting them.

^^ That's something else that R* really needs to address.
Players also shouldn't have to "re-obtain" the crowbar, baseball bat, and golf club every time a script kiddie steals them (which will never go away, so it needs permanent fixing). Once you pick up those items, they should be permanently yours like all other weapons--until intentionally dropped--using whatever new mechanism R* comes up with.
As far as i know only PC have issues dropping guns, on console is as easy as walking into the street, openning the weapon wheel and pressing a button.
My experience on the PS3 with NPC-dropped weapons was identical to my experience on the PC; even if you dropped it before, it would always come back by walking over it...something you can't easily avoid anyway when you're trying to pick up dropped money.
Players should never have to "tip toe" around dropped weapons just to avoid picking them up; but that's the way it is right now.
Someone made the suggestion of creating a button assignment to pickup weapons (not ammo, which arguably could be left as-is)--great idea! This is how most others games handle weapon pickups anyway...the only place it might be a problem is during death matches/LTS, etc.

Once dropped they normally go to the right. Just step left.
As for the bat, crowbar, etc. I'm always losing these. Curious how this happens as when you get killed you normally drop ammo for the weapon you were holding. And I never just walk around with a bat

On ps3, cannot drop certain weapons, such as the Gusenberg Sweeper (which I bought as of yesterday by complete accident). Underleveled people seem to have no problem picking them up, if they can find them in the first place. Its frustrating as I don't really want it anymore

You cant drop weapons on PC if you do they always come back when you change lobby which is really annoying. I made a second character after i got my first to 200ish because i could't take it anyone. Last week i must have picked up Micro SMG somehow now it is stuck with me forever, i have never bought it but guess it someone bugged into my inventory. Wrote a ticket actually 3 and rockstar didnt want to remove it from my inventory.
I would pay any amount in order to have the useless weapons permanently removed. I am fine in freeroam since i have gunlocker but in missions i am forced to play with the useless weapons i don't need and i can't remove.
PS: Open to any glitch or whatever if there is a way to permanently delete/remove the useless weapons from my inventory.
