How to Easily Peel Garlic Without Smashing

Here's an easy way to peel garlic without smashing the individual cloves: Just separate the cloves by firmly pressing and rocking the bulb against my countertop. Then place individual cloves into a bowl of cold water. After sitting for 20 minutes the papery skins peel right off. Your hands won't stink of garlic, either!

You can also microwave the cloves for 10 to 15 seconds—the peels will slide right off!
