How to Empty a Dyson Ball Vacuum
The Dyson Ball vacuum series comes with a detachable dust cup. You can detach the cup from the rest of the vacuum by pressing the button at its top. The cup will pop right out after pressing the button.
Hold the handle on top of the cup and bring it over to a trash can. Hover the cup’s bottom as low as you can in the trash can to avoid spilling its contents.
Press the release button on the cup’s top again to open up its bottom so that all the debris and dirt in it can come out. Shake the cup gently to get rid of any dirt left in it.
Close the cup’s door. You will know the door is properly closed when you hear a click.
Return the back to the vacuum and put it in place. Again, you should hear a click. Plus, the cup should not budge or come loose when you shake or pull on it.
How to Empty a Dyson V-Series Vacuum
The Dyson V-series stick vacuums are the backbone of Dyson’s reputation as a vacuum brand. Most people who own a Dyson have a V-series. This guide will take you through emptying any of the V-series vacuums. The process cuts across the models; however, Dyson changed the dust cup design after releasing the Dyson V8. It used to be L-shaped for the older models; now, it is in-line. Since the dust cup designs differ, there is a slight difference in the emptying procedure. We have split our guide into two to show you how to empty the older V-series models (V6 to V8) and the newer models (V10 to V15).
How to Empty V6-V8
The V6, V7, and V8 Dysons come with an L-shaped dust cup. For most people, this is a more familiar design. To empty either of these vacuums:
- Ensure the vacuum is turned off. Check to see that the power switch is OFF and the cord is removed from the wall outlet.
- Bring the vacuum over a trash can, then open up the bottom of the dust cup by pressing a red button behind it, near the vacuum’s handle.
- Press the red button once more to remove the dust cup entirely.
- Wash or dust off the cup, then place it back. Click its bottom door closed to secure it in place.
How to Empty V10-V15
Dyson has only released three vacuum models with the in-line dust cup design. Emptying these vacuums is a bit complicated because with the in-line design, the dust cup is connected with the wand and the motor. Here is how to go about it:
Shutt off the vacuum, then take off the front section wand by pressing the wand release button.
After pulling the suction wand away from the vacuum, you should be able to see the cup’s release door.
Hold the vacuum by its handle, then bring the cup over to a trash can. You can also hold the vacuum upside down with the front part facing downwards at the trash can. This will minimize dirt kick-up.
Open the cup’s door by pushing a red latch under the dust cup. All the content in the dust cup will be released into the trash can. The best thing about the in-line cup design is that you don’t contact the dirt at all, thus more sanitary.
To remove the cup for cleaning, press the small button with a white arrow. The cup will easily slide off.
If you are planning to get a new Dyson V-series vacuum and you are not sure which one to go with, we can recommed the Dyson V11 as the best allergy vacuum that money can buy. The unit has two times the suction power of any cordless vacuum and myriad cool features that offer great value for money.
Alternatively, you can go with the equally famous Dyson V8. The cordless stick vacuum cleaner comes with the advanced HEPA filtration system. it is also incredibly lightweight and offers up to 40 minutes of fade-free power.
