While the vast majority of Pokemon evolutions are obtained when certain Pokemon level up, some evolutions actually have special requirements that trigger the Pokemon’s evolution instead. How to Evolve Magmar into Magmortar

Magmar can only evolve with the use of a Magmarizor. The Magmarizor is described as "A box packed with a tremendous amount of magma energy. It's loved by a certain Pokemon." Magmar is that certain Pokemon! Once you’ve caught a Magmar you simply need to have it in your party and give it an item called the Magmarizor. No matter what level Magmar is on, it’ll evolve once you give it the Magmarizor.

• In case you're curious, the pre-evolution Magby can evolve into Magmar once it reaches level 30.

Where to Catch Magmar

You can find Magmar at Firespit Island in the Cobalt Coastlands. — Magby are often found here as well! You can also encounter Magmar within Space-time Distortions. It's even possible to encounter Magmortar during Space-time Distortions specifically at Coronet Highlands.

How to Get the Magmarizor

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the Magmorizor can be acquired through various means. Most commonly is by buying it from the Trading Post. At the Trading Post, you can buy a Magmarizor for 1,400 MP. Merit Points (MP) are earned by finding and retrieving Lost Satchels. Check out our How to Get Merit Points Guide for more!

There are two other ways to obtain a Magmorizor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Magmorizors and all the other evolutionary items can be found scattered randomly across the ground inside Space-time Distortions. You can also purchase a Magmaizor once the Gingko Guild Merchants settle in Jubilife Village. Glinter has a chance of selling it for 10,000p. He’ll call it a “Magma Box.”
