OILY SCALP? ITCHY SCALP?SCALP ODOR? THINNING HAIR?You Might Need a Scalp Detox.OILY SCALP? ITCHY SCALP?SCALP ODOR? THINNING HAIR?You Might Need a Scalp Detox.OILY SCALP? ITCHY SCALP?SCALP ODOR? THINNING HAIR?You Might Need a Scalp Detox.1. Scalp 101
The scalp is one of the dirtiest places on the human body. Not only does your scalp have a plethora of sweat glands, but it also has an abundance of sebaceous (oil) glands, which produce oily sebum. Have you ever scratched your scalp and noticed white, waxy buildup under your nails? That's sebum mixed with dead skin cells. It's hard for shampoo alone to wash away your oily scalp issues. And issues like stress and weather can increase the scalp's sebum production, making you even oilier. The sebum buildup needs a decongestant, like salicylic acid, to break it down.
2. Thinning hair? It could be your scalp.
Hair loss can happen due to age, stress, hormones, illness, medications - and scalp buildup (which clogs your hair follicles). What's in that buildup? Sebum, skin flakes, pollution, and product buildup. How is it effecting your hair growth? You usually have several hairs growing from each hair follicle. All of that buildup clogs your hair follicles, which means your hair follicles don't have as much room for hair. The result? Less hairs growing out of each follicle (👋 hello, hair loss and thinning hair). Exfoliating your scalp regularly with glycolic and salicylic acid (like in Clean Rinse) dissolves the surface buildup and the buildup within the follicle to promote healthier hair growth.
3. Why does my scalp have an (ahem) unpleasant odor?
The sweat glands on your scalp are called apocrine glands (these are the same type of sweat glands found in your armpits). Sweat from your apocrine glands is higher in fat and lipids, versus eccrine sweat, which is watery and thin. The problem? Bacteria living on your hair and scalp love apocrine (hair) sweat. As they break down the waxy apocrine sweat, a distinct "scalp odor" is produced. This is even more pronounced if you exercise a lot and in the warmer months. What can you do about it? Regularly sweep away the sweat buildup with Clean Rinse Clarifying Scalp Serum for a cleaner-smelling scalp.
4. No one wants flakiness & itchiness caused by product buildup and dryness
Hair styling products may make your hair look better, but long-term they can leave a residue on the scalp that eventually causes scalp dryness, flakiness, lifeless hair, and clogged hair follicles. Not all of that product buildup can be washed away with shampoo (remember, even your shampoo and conditioner can leave a waxy residue). As a matter of fact, over-washing your hair can strip your hair off too much oil and dry out your scalp, with resulting flakiness and itchiness. The solution? Clarify the product buildup and exfoliate the dry flakes away with Clean Rinse Clarifying Scalp Serum, which is powered by glycolic (AHA) and salicylic (BHA) acid.
5. Ok, so what ingredients are in Clean Rinse?
Clean Rinse Clarifying Scalp serum is powered by salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid to exfoliate the surface of your scalp (bye, white flakes) and remove oily scalp and product buildup (hello, healthy hair growth and cleaner scalp). It's balanced with toning witch hazel and clays to pull out impurities. Not to mention niacinamide, panthenol, and zinc, which are important vitamins and minerals for healthy hair growth.
6. It's cruelty-free, vegan, and award winning.
Clean Rinse is certified cruelty-free by PETA and Leaping Bunny, and is vegan. And it's already starting winning awards (thank you, The Zoe Report! 🙌)
