Harold was a social misfit in high school and unfortunately has never really outgrown his teenage years.
Through mutual acquaintances, Harold is reconnected with his old high school crush, Annie Hayes, who is an event planner by night and a waitress by day. Harold’s heart still skips a beat for Annie, but she barely remembers him from school. However, when Annie needs some fast cash she offers herself as a dating coach for Harold with surprising results! Annie sets up eight dating lessons on topics such as “gaining self-confidence,” “breaking the ice” and “the art of conversation.” As Annie reshapes her client from a cripplingly shy wallflower into a self-assured bachelor, it turns out there’s more to Harold White than endless social humiliation. Many can relate to the flashbacks of high school awkwardness and will find themselves empathizing with Harold’s plight. He was encouraged to be himself, make the conversation about someone other than himself, and he learned how to make a girl feel special. This film is a refreshingly different slant on the dating world without being cheesy. Parents are advised to be aware of several instances when wine and mixed drinks are consumed without excess in a social setting. We feel, however, that Hallmark has done a wonderful job crafting a story of love, lessons and life in a believable and humorous way, and we are happy to give the Dove Family Approved Seal for audiences ages 12 and up.
