How To Find (& Catch) Hoopa In Pokémon GO - Screen Rant

Hoopa is the newest Mythical Pokemon to join the roster of Pokemon Go. As with many of the Mythical Pokemon in the series, many of them can only be obtained through the game's Special Research mechanic. This acts as Pokemon Go's version of a story mode, it provides much-needed lore about some of the most magical Pokemon in the series. For Hoopa, players will need to complete the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research Story. Hoopa was previously introduced into the game during the Pokemon GO Fest event where it unlocked portals around the world, transporting legendary Pokemon from all over to raid battles.

The Misunderstood Mischief Special Research is the first time in Pokemon Go where not all of the Special Research tasks are available at once. Normally, players can complete a stage and move on to the next. This time around, players will need to wait until Professor Willow finishes his private research. This Special Research comes along with 16 stages in total but only 3 of them are made available right away.

Fortunately, players only need to complete the first 3 tasks of the Mischief Unbound Special Research Tasks in order to encounter Hoopa. Typically, the legendary Pokemon is the final prize for completing the Special Research, but Hoopa is different. Here is what players need to do to get their hands on Hoopa in Pokémon GO.

Capturing Hoopa in Pokemon Go

To get Hoopa in Pokémon GO, players will need to complete three special research tasks called Misunderstood Mischief. Here's how players can complete the three tasks

• Task 1: In the first research task, players will have to perform 10 “nice” throws in Pokémon Go to get started. They will then need to snap three photos of wild Psychic-type Pokémon and use an incense. Players who successfully meet all criteria and finish the first research task will be rewarded with 1000 EXP, 1000 Stardust, 10 Pinap Berries, 10 Poké Balls, one incense, and an encounter with Gothita.
• Task 2: This one is automatically completed since it's past September 5th. Players simply need to accept the reward for this task that will yield 720 EXP and 720 Stardust.
• Task 3: The third task requires Pokémon Go players to perform 5 “Curveball” throws and collect 10 different species of Pokémon. Players will also need to earn 5000 stardust to complete this task. On completion, players will be rewarded with 1000 EXP, 1000 Stardust, 15 Pokeballs, 15 Great Balls, 3 Max Revives, and an opportunity to catch a Confined Hoopa.

Players will then be greeted by Hoopa which they can immediately capture. There are still 13 stages remaining in the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research Task, and the game already provided players with the legendary Pokemon for it. In Pokemon X and Y, players are able to unlock Hoopa's power to reach its Unbound mode. Players would use the Prison Bottle item in order to change it into this form. It is likely that Hoopa Unbound will be made available later in the game through this Special Research. It's unknown when Professor Willow will continue his research, but it's likely within the next few weeks. Players will just need to be patient to see what happens next with Hoopa.
