How To Find The Date You Created A Pinterest Pin
Maybe your like
Have you ever wondered how to find the date you posted a pin to Pinterest? I see this question all the time in some of my favorite blogging groups on Facebook: “Is there any way to tell when I pinned a pin?”
In this post, I’m going to walk you through step-by-step instructions on how to find out exactly what date and time you pinned a pin.

This post contains affiliate links. This means if you make a purchase through one of these links, I may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you. All opinions are my own. Read my full disclosure here.
How to Find the Date You Created a Pinterest Pin
Can you see the date you pinned something on Pinterest? Yep!
Can you see the date someone else pinned something on Pinterest? You bet!
*It should be noted, I’m doing this on a PC. I don’t know for sure if these steps work on a Mac.
Find a pin date – Step 1:
Open the desired pin and right-click below your description.

A typical menu will open up. Click on “View Page Source”.

Find a pin date – Step 2:
A new tab will open that looks like a whole lot of gibberish.
If it doesn’t look like the image below, make sure you select “Line Wrap” in the upper left.

Note: All this “gibberish” is ALL the information Pinterest stores about THIS pin. Just this one pin has all this info, that Pinterest has to store and process.
Knowing this really makes you realize why Pinterest no longer wants us repinning multiple copies of our own pins! This platform/algorithm is MASSIVE!
Find a pin date – Step 3:
Next, with the “gibberish” screen open, type “Ctrl F”. A small search bar will open at the top of your screen

Find a pin date – Step 4:
Type “created_at“, and press Enter.
Ta-Da!!
Three different dates will appear, highlighted in orange or yellow.
The third one will be the exact date and time you created the pin!
The first two highlights will actually show the date and time you created your Pinterest account.

That’s it! It’s really simple and the information is so interesting! Personally, I find all my really strong pins are at least 6 months old.
Keep reading to find out how and why you might want to know this pin info!

Why would you want to know when your pin was created?
Well, maybe you’ve got a pin that all of a sudden goes viral. Or even just starts bringing you decent blog traffic overnight.
It’s nice to know when you pinned it to see how long you might expect future pins to get attention.
Remember, Pinterest is a long game. You can’t expect instant results. It can take many months before a pin really starts to gain traction.
Knowing how to find the date you pinned a top performing pin can bring you valuable insight into the inner workings of your account.
This trick is also handy when it comes to scheduling your Pinterest pins. Sometimes I schedule a bunch of pins in advance…
Then when I go back to add more, I often can’t remember when the last one went out. So I can simply use this hack to find out if I’ve already pinned that day or not (I like to post at least 1 pin a day, currently).

Can You See When Someone ELSE Created a Pin?
Yep! This fun little Pinterest trick isn’t just for your pins. You can use this method to find the original date and time of any pin on Pinterest.
Maybe you see the same pin repeatedly. It always shows up in your newsfeed, and you’ve been seeing it for months, maybe even years!
Curious when that viral pin was made? This works on those pins too, even if they aren’t your own.
This can give you insight into just how powerful Pinterest can be for long term traffic.
How to Find the Date You Created a Pinterest Board or Account
While doing some research, I discovered some Pinterest users are also curious about finding out when they created their Pinterest boards.
And when they started their Pinterest accounts!
I got curious and ended up writing an entire post on these two questions.

More Pinterest Tips for Bloggers
Wondering where I get these juicy little tips, like how to see when you pinned something on Pinterest?
Everything I know about Pinterest I owe to: a) Pinteresting Strategies and b) Pinterest Mastermind With Carly Campbell
• Pinteresting Strategies (use coupon code KAREN15 to save 15%) is the best Pinterest course I’ve ever taken. I owe the majority of my blog traffic to the strategies taught in it.
As of May 2023, Pinteresting Strategies 2.0 has just been updated to reflect current best practices.
• The Pinterest Mastermind Group is THE most up-to-date information you will find about the Pinterest algorithm.
Carly is a self-proclaimed Pinterest Geek! She is obsessed (in a really great way) with Pinterest and how to make it work for bloggers.
This Facebook mastermind group is a paid membership. At any time you can ask personal questions about where you are struggling and what’s happening with YOUR account.

Carly more often than not will weigh in and offer advice. Often she’ll even record a video just for you!
She also pops in about once a week to record a live Q&A session or to discuss any recent changes, observations, or hacks.
This membership originally started as a pin template subscription. But the members seem to unanimously agree that the mastermind group is invaluable!
Don’t get me wrong, the pin templates are also amazing and get sent to your inbox every month. You can try the templates for free HERE.
I have reviews for both the course and the membership if you want to learn more: Honest Review of Pinteresting Strategies + Discount Code Pinteresting Pins on Autopilot Review + Mastermind Group
P.S. The membership just got a major upgrade and is now called “Content Creator’s Club”.
It still offers all the best insider Pinterest tips, but it’s now covering all aspects of blogging. We just did a live training with traffic/SEO expert Lena Gott, and I learned SO much.
PLUS, each month there are new templates for creating other things like eBooks, slide decks, etc. It’s an amazing membership with huge value!
