Welcome to IGN's Subnautica: Below Zero guide. This part of the How To section will teach you how to find the Spiral Plant. The Spiral Plant is necessary for story progress and is important to locate.

How to find the Spiral Plant

The Spiral Plant is is found inside Adult Vent Gardens. Adult Vent Gardens are Leviathan Class Organisms, but they are docile and will not hurt you. However, they are surrounded by Squidshark and other Leviathans like the Chelicerate that will attack!

You may see Juvenile Vent Gardens in other Subnautica Biomes, but they do not have Spiral Plants and cannot be entered by a human anyways.

The Adult Vent Gardens are located in the Tree Spires just outside the shallower Purple Vents. The is close to the Mercury II Wreck as well.

When you cut a Spiral Plant with a Survival Knife it yields a Spiral Plant Clipping. Each plant contains 1-2 clippings.

Remember you will need at least MKI depth upgrade for your Seatruck. From Delta Station Dock, head directly South (you will need to move a bit left to clear the island) and head out about 600 meters.

The adult Vent Garden entrances are located at about 300 meters down.

Dive straight down to the bottom of the Vent Garden and Seaglide your way into the leviathan. The tube running into the Gent Garden has tentacle-like feelers but they can't hurt you.

Inside you'll find many Spiral Plant clippings to harvest. We recommend taking a few to plant in Exterior Grow Beds so you can more easily farm them. Simply place Spiral Plant Clippings in the grow bed and monitor them. When they're 100% grown you can harvest 2 new Spiral Plants.
