If you have a rug anywhere in your home, chances are you have experienced the dreaded curling rug corner. Not only do they look awful, they are also a tripping hazard. Here’s an easy tutorial on how to fix curling rug corners.

I’m totally going to date myself here… but back when I was in college, my (now) husband got to be a contestant on “The Price is Right”… and guess what he won!
A set of World Book Book Encyclopedias.
Now that we’ve advanced beyond dial-up internet, encyclopedias may not seem all that useful. I mean, ours sat in storage for at least a decade, but when a rug corner in our dining room started to curl, I knew it was their time to shine.

How to Fix Curling Rug Corners
Start by lifting up the rug where you are noticing the curl, and spray the underside of the rug with water. Give it a good spray, making sure the curl is thoroughly wet with water.

If the rug is lying on a wood floor, make sure to put a towel underneath the rug corner to avoid getting water on the flooring. Then set a heavy object on top of the corner, making sure the curled part is completely weighted down.

Leave it this way for 24 hours to allow the rug to dry into its new (flat) shape.
Once the time is up, simply remove the heavy object and your rug should be lying flat again.

I actually tried this 3 months ago and waited to share until I could see if the results lasted over time. One of my rug corners is still flat, however the jute rug is starting to curl again, so I may need to redo the process for that one.

Pretty easy process to get your rugs back in shape, right?
UPDATE: The rug corners stayed flat for about 9 months before they started to curl again. Why I have one defiant rug corner is beyond me, but knowing this simple hack to fix a curling rug corner means I can flatten it again with hardly any effort… and our encyclopedias get a little use.
