The Isle of Armor DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield brings with it over 100 returning Pokemon not featured in the main game, including Porygon. You can't find and capture Porygon in the wild so this guide serves to help you not only find the Generation 1 Pokemon but to explain how to evolve it into both Porygon2 and Porygon-Z.

Porygon can only be obtained as a gift from a character in the DLC. First you'll have to complete the main story of the Isle of Armor, including defeating Master Mustard and his full team. You also should have already talked to Hyde at the Master Dojo and gotten the Cram-o-matic activated.

Once you've completed all the story quests, head back to the Master Dojo and speak to Hyde who now has a Porygon at his side. Interact with the Porygon and Hyde will offer to give it to you for beating his dad in battle. Accept!

Simple enough. Evolving Porygon into its two additional forms will be a bit more tricky. Not only will you be required to find and give your Porygon a special item, the Porygon will also have to be traded with another player while holding the specific item.

How to Evolve Porygon into Porygon2

In order to evolve Porygon into Porygon2, you'll have to find the Upgrade item. It's located in the Training Lowlands. Fast travel to the location and face the cave entrance. Go left and walk through the tall grass. The Upgrade item can be found in the small passageway between the cliff and the large rock.

Once you have the item, go into your Bag and give the Upgrade to Porygon so that it holds the item. With that set, you'll need to find someone you can trade it with, hopefully someone trustworthy. The moment the trade is made, Porygon will evolve into Porygon2. Unfortunately the person you traded with has your evolved Pokemon so you'll have to trade again to get it back.

How to Evolve Porygon into Porygon-Z

In order to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z, you'll have to go through a similar process. This time you'll need the Dubious Disc item. It can be found on a small island in the Workout Sea. If that giant Wailord is still in the water, you can find the island to the left of it.

Once you've collected the Dubious Disc, have your Porygon2 hold it. Now repeat the process. Trade your Porygon2 to a friend where it will automatically evolve, then have your friend send it back through a second trade.
