How to Get Riolu: Video Walkthrough

Head to Iron Island

BDSP - Sail to Iron Island.png In the southwest side of Canalave City, you can talk to the sailor at the dock to take you to Iron Island. Once in Iron Island, enter the cave and descend further down levels until you encounter Riley. Riley will team up with you to escape the cave and keep your Pokemon healthy.

Receive a Riolu Egg from Riley

BDSP - Receive Riolu Egg from Riley.png Near the exit, you will have to battle against two Team Galactic Members. After you beat them, Riley will reward you with the Riolu Egg for helping him out.

Evolve Riolu by Leveling Up with High Friendship at Day

Riolu will evolve into Lucario once it levels up during the day while having high Friendship stat.

Riolu will naturally grow closer with you as you travel and battle with it. You can also let it participate in Contests, letting it hold the Soothe Bell or obtaining it in a Luxury Ball among other methods.

You can see how high a Pokemon's Friendship stat is with the Poketch's Friendship Checker app. Having two hearts will mean that a Pokemon is very close to you and has reached max Friendship value.
