How to get hood open? Hood latch broken! NEED HELP ASAP!! So a couple of weeks back I found out that my hood latch cable was stretched so I had to cut it halfway and manually pull the cable to open the hood. Now the cable is all fugged up and not working and the hood is shut. Is there a way for me to get the hood open without the use of the cable at all???

Re: How to get hood open? Hood latch broken! (92BlackSi) Just get up under ur hood with a screwdriver and push the latch open with the screwdriver. It kinda takes a bit of patience, but once u do it once u'll be able to do it again no problem. I used to have to do it to Saturn Ions all the time cause their hood latch cables broke when it got cold outside. zman View Public Profile Send a private message to zman Find More Posts by zman View iTrader Profile

K guys I just dived under the car to check out the screwdriver idea. Two things: 1. Where exactly are you putting the screwdriver? The only access to the latch area is through the bumper grill. I can just barely get my hand through the grill but once in no further. 2. You can't see the hood latch, so even if I got in there somehow where would I put the screwdriver?? I need some MAJOR HELP HERE! I don't want to have to do something sick to the hood!!

Re: (akaEsCo01) just follow your hood latch cable and you'll see the "hook" that it is connected to on the latch. Then place the screwdriver in such a way that you will move it the same direction as the cable normally would. Bingo! jigjew View Public Profile Find More Posts by jigjew View iTrader Profile

Re: (Pacman88) Another easy way to open the hood, assuming the cable is in its stock location, would be to remove the top of the fender liner, reach between the liner and the fender, grab the cable and yank it toward the rear of the car. 8point6 View Public Profile Send a private message to 8point6 Find More Posts by 8point6 View iTrader Profile

Re: (8point6) on my civic i just reach throught the middle of the bumper a lil more towards the passenger side and feel for the cable (thin hard line) then just give it a yank to the left billyhoe View Public Profile Visit billyhoe's homepage! Find More Posts by billyhoe View iTrader Profile

if the cable is completely unattached from the latching mechanism, it would be useless to pull the cable. the screwdriver/crowbar would be the tool to use along with a jack. tuan str8cyko View Public Profile Send a private message to str8cyko Find More Posts by str8cyko View iTrader Profile
