Pokemon HOME version 2.0.0 is finally here with support for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl. To promote this, players can get special versions of the Pokemon BDSP and Legends: Arceus starters in Pokemon HOME.
Pokemon’s dedicated box management games and apps have always been unwieldy, and Pokemon HOME is no different. Instead of having the ability to easily redeem promotional Pokemon and just place them directly in a box, players need to jump through extra hoops every time.
The special Pokemon available in HOME for Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends: Arceus are no different. This process requires multiple devices and multiple games in order to work. Here’s how to do it.
How to get special Pokemon Legends: Arceus starters Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil from Pokemon HOME
Players looking to take advantage of this promotion need to have Pokemon HOME on both a mobile device and a Nintendo Switch. Here are the steps for obtaining the special Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil from Pokemon HOME for Legends: Arceus.
- Transfer any Pokemon from Legends: Arceus to Pokemon HOME using the Nintendo Switch version of HOME
- Open Pokemon HOME on a mobile device that is linked to the same Nintendo account as the Nintendo Switch
- Open the menus by hitting the button at the bottom of the main screen
- Select “Mystery Gift”
- Select “Gift Box”
- Open the gifts containing each Pokemon
After opening the gifts, the Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil will be deposited into the Pokemon HOME boxes. Once there, they can be transferred to different games. The Pokemon HOME app is available on both the Apple iOS Store and Google Play Store.

All three are optimized for use in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, with each one boasting maximum effort levels in the game. These are a substitution used for EVs that are exclusive to Legends: Arceus.
Rowlet can also be transferred to Pokemon Sword and Shield, while Cyndaquil can be transferred to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Unfortunately, Oshawott is only usable in Legends: Arceus. All three have their hidden abilities, though these are not usable in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. As always, Pokemon HOME cannot be used to send Pokemon into Pokemon GO
How to get special Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup in Pokemon HOME for BDSP
Alongside the promotion for Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a similar one for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. This once again has Pokemon HOME offering special versions of the BDSP starters with their hidden abilities.
- Transfer any Pokemon from Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl to Pokemon HOME on the Nintendo Switch
- Open Pokemon HOME on a mobile device
- Make sure the mobile account is linked to the same Nintendo account as the Nintendo Switch
- Open the menus by hitting the button at the bottom of the main screen
- Select “Mystery Gift”
- Select “Gift Box”
- Open the gifts containing each Pokemon
Three mystery gifts will be available, with each one containing one of the starters from the Sinnoh region with their hidden abilities. After finding them in Pokemon HOME, they can be transferred to either Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or Legends: Arceus. Unfortunately, they cannot be transferred to Pokemon Sword or Shield.
