Did you change your phone number recently and forget the new one? Or maybe you've found a SIM card and want to find out the phone number assigned to it. As long as you can insert the SIM card into an iPhone or Android phone, you can easily find the attached phone number, even if you're not connected to a network. This wikiHow article will show you how to check the phone number associated with your SIM card.
Steps
Method 1 Method 1 of 4:Asking the Carrier: Dialing, Calling, or Texting
-
1 Try your carrier's help code. Depending on the carrier, you may be able to call or text a special number that will display the code on the screen. - T-mobile: Dial #NUM# (#686#) in the Phone app.[1]
- EE: Text the word Number to 150.[2]
- Vodafone: Dial *#100# in the Phone app.[3]
- O2: Text the word Number to 2020.
- Giffgaff: Text the word Number to 43430.[4]
- Other carriers, including AT&T and Verizon, don't offer this feature. You can try searching for other carriers and "phone codes" to see if your carrier has a number to dial.
-
2 Call the service carrier. Some SIM cards do not display their number inside the settings of any phone. In these cases, you'll have to call the service carrier listed on the SIM card to ask. - If you can't make outbound phone calls, take the card to a store that sells that service carrier's SIM cards. A customer service representative should be able to help you track down the associated phone number.
- If you bought a new SIM card, it may not have a number yet at all. Once you place it into a compatible phone, you'll be able to activate it on the carrier's network.
- If you are calling from the phone using the mystery SIM card, the carrier may be able to detect the number automatically. If not, have the SIM card visible so you can read the serial number aloud.
-
3 Send a text message or call another phone. If the SIM card is active, you can text or call another person and ask them what phone number they see. This will work unless the number is private. Advertisement
Check SIM Card in iPhone Settings
-
1 Insert the SIM into your iPhone. Once your iPhone recognizes the SIM card, it will figure out the attached phone number (if there is one). - Some newer models of iPhone have an eSIM rather than a physical SIM. If this is the case, you can still look up your phone number in the Settings menu of your phone.
- You may need to contact your mobile service provider for information about how to set up your eSIM.
- Some newer models of iPhone have an eSIM rather than a physical SIM. If this is the case, you can still look up your phone number in the Settings menu of your phone.
-
2 Open your iPhone's Settings
. This is the gray gear icon on your Home screen or in your App Library.[5] -
3 Tap Apps. It’s at the very bottom of the Settings menu. - If you’re using iOS 17 or earlier, skip this step. Instead, tap Phone in the main Settings menu.
-
4 Scroll down and tap Phone. This is the option with a green-and-white phone receiver. It’s in the P section of the Apps menu.[6] -
5 Find the phone number next to "My Number". It's about halfway down the page. This displays the number associated with the SIM card you've inserted or the eSIM linked to your phone.[7] - Alternatively, go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile, depending on your region). You’ll find your phone number in the second group of menu items, next to the text My Number.

Check SIM Card in Android Settings
-
1 Open your Android's Settings
. It's the gear icon in your app list.[9] -
2 Tap About Phone or About Device. If you don't see one of these options on the Settings screen, you may have to tap System first. -
3 Tap My phone number or Phone Identity. The name of this option will vary by Android. If you don't see an option like this, look for Status or Sim Status instead. -
4 Find your number next to "My phone number". This displays the phone number associated with your SIM card.[10] - If you do not see your number, look for "SIM Status." Tap that to view the final sub-menu where your number appears.
- You may see multiple numbers if you have more than one SIM card installed.
-
5 Check the SIM Manager menu as an alternative. With some Android phones, you may be able to see your SIM or eSIM’s phone number in the SIM Manager menu. To access it:[11] - Open the Settings menu and select Connections.
- Tap SIM Manager.
- View any SIM or eSIM profiles under the SIM cards and eSIMs headers. If your SIM card has a phone number associated with it, you should be able to see it here.
