How To Grow Cilantro Or Coriander At Home by Sakina Dhilawala September 21, 2021

Coriander or Cilantro is one of our top selling organic, GMO-free seeds. It is a favourite herb for many and used for topping dishes before serving. 

Coriander is a slow-growing microgreen and can take between 3-4 weeks. You can also grow these microgreens into the matured green with our organic seeds. 

Coriander is best grown in temperate climates which means the cooler months in Singapore. 

Coriander Microgreen

Medium

It is best to use a well-drained medium with a germination mix. Clay or garden soil tend to be too hard, not allowing the roots to penetrate through easily. Our preferred medium is a mix of peat and organic vegetable compost. This is where you could reuse your potting mix from growing your microgreens.

How It's Done

If you have already grown coriander as microgreens, remove some of the seedlings (with the roots) and repot them into the medium above. Make sure the medium is well watered so it is moist.

If you are growing them from seeds:

• Split the seeds by placing them in a cloth bag and using a rolling pin. Apply a little force so the seeds crack open.
• Sow the seeds evenly on moistened medium and give the seeds a good spray of water
• Cover the seeds with a layer of the medium and allow to germinate for 4-7 days
• Once the seeds have germinated, place them in a bright area, but not under direct sunlight.
• When watering coriander, especially after germination, it is important to spray the medium with water to keep it moist. Do not pour water onto the medium as the young seedlings will get displaced.

To use them as microgreens, harvest when they are about 5cm.
