Steps to Hatch Turtles

1. Find Turtle Eggs

First, you need to find turtle eggs. Turtles will naturally lay turtle eggs in the game along the edge of the sand in the Beach biome.

In this tutorial, we have built a wall of sand around our turtles to keep them nearby.

If you are having trouble finding turtles eggs, you can breed turtles to create a nest of turtle eggs (or clutch of turtle eggs).

2. Increase the Random Tick Speed

Turtle eggs can take a very long time to hatch! To help speed up the hatching process, you can increase the random tick speed. The default random tick speed in Minecraft is 3.

To speed things up, let's change the random tick speed to 50000 with the following /gamerule command:

/gamerule randomTickSpeed 50000

3. Turtle Eggs will crack for the first time

Now, you need to patiently wait for the turtle eggs to hatch three times. When the eggs crack the first time, you will hear a "crack" sound and green particles will appear. At this point, the turtle eggs will show small brown cracking.

4. Turtle Eggs will crack for the second time

Now, wait for the second "crack" sound. When the eggs crack for the second time, you will see green particles again and the turtle eggs will show darker brown cracking.

5. Turtle Eggs will crack for third time and hatch

When you hear the third "crack" sound, the baby turtles will hatch from the eggs and begin moving around.

6. Set the Random Tick Speed back to the default

Now that the turtles have hatched, you should set your random tick speed back to the default value of 3, otherwise your game will begin to behave strangely.

To set your random tick speed back to the default of 3, enter the following /gamerule command:

/gamerule randomTickSpeed 3
