App

What is an App?

Apps provide a way to add specific features to Origin/OriginPro. These are not stand-alone applications. They are installed as add-ons to Origin or OriginPro. Some Apps work on Origin, others require OriginPro. Each App also has a minimum version requirement, and so they only work on the specified version or any later/newer version of Origin/OriginPro.

How to Install the App?

1. Click the Download File button to download the file. The file name will have a file extension of .OPX.
2. Locate the downloaded file on your computer using Windows Explorer.
3. Launch Origin/OriginPro if it is not already open.
4. Drag-and-drop the .OPX file from Windows Explorer onto the Origin interface. A new icon will appear in the Apps Gallery window. If the Apps Gallery window is not open, use the View: Apps menu to turn it on.

If you are blocked from dropping the file onto Origin, please try one of the following:

• Make sure that you are NOT running Origin as Administrator and try dropping the file again.

OR

• In Origin, use the Tools: Package Manager... menu. In the dialog, select Tools: Install a Package... and then select the .OPX file.

NOTE: If you have version 2018 or higher, you can press the F10 key in Origin to open the App Center dialog. From that dialog, you can browse/search for Apps and install or update Apps directly from within Origin.

How to Run the App?

Click on the icon in the Apps Gallery window. Note that some Apps require a certain Origin window type (worksheet, graph, matrix) to be active before you can launch the App. If the icon appears faded, place your cursor on the icon to view information on what window type is needed for the App.

How to Update the App?

Press the F10 key in Origin to open the App Center. Then switch to the Updates tab. You can then update a specific App, or all Apps that are in need of an update.

How to Uninstall the App?

Right-click on the icon in the Apps Gallery window, and select Uninstall.

How to Locate the App Folder?

Each App is installed in a new folder on your computer. An App may include samples and other related files. To open the App's folder, right-click on the icon in Apps Gallery, and select Show in Folder.

Graph Template

What is a Graph Template?

A graph template is a file that contains all specifications of a graph such as number of layers, axis settings, and data plot styles. The template file does not contain any data. The Users can create nice graphs from graph templates with new data. The online graph template has a minimum version, which is the version the templates are added and may only works on the specified version or any later/newer version of Origin/OriginPro.

How to Install and use the Graph Template?

1. Click the Download File button to download the file. The file name will have a file extension of .OPX.
2. Locate the downloaded file on your computer using Windows Explorer.
3. Launch Origin/OriginPro if it is not already open.
4. Drag-and-drop the .OPX file from Windows Explorer onto the Origin interface.
5. After installation, choose Plot: Extended Templates or Plot: Template Library to use it.

NOTE: If you have version 2022 or higher, you can choose menu Tools: Template center to open the Template Center dialog. From that dialog, you can browse/search for templates and install or update graph/book templates directly from within Origin.

Book Template

What is a Book Template?

An online book template is a workbook or matrixbook file that contains no data but does contain a sequence of analysis operations that are stored with the book. The online book template has a minimum version, which is the version the templates are added and may only works on the specified version or any later/newer version of Origin/OriginPro.

How to Install and use the Book Template?

1. Click the Download File button to download the file. The file name will have a file extension of .OPX.
2. Locate the downloaded file on your computer using Windows Explorer.
3. Launch Origin/OriginPro if it is not already open.
4. Drag-and-drop the .OPX file from Windows Explorer onto the Origin interface.
5. After installation, the book templates will be accessible from the File->New->Workbook/Matrix menu under the Browse sub menu

NOTE: If you have version 2022 or higher, you can choose menu Tools: Template center to open the Template Center dialog. From that dialog, you can browse/search for templates and install or update graph/book templates directly from within Origin.
