How To Leave A Slack Workspace: A Step-by-Step Guide - MakeUseOf

If you no longer wish to stay in a Slack workspace and cannot figure out how to leave it, it's because the process is not as straightforward as it should be.

Apart from asking the admin to remove you from the workspace manually, there’s another way you can exit by yourself. Let's see how and what happens when you leave a Slack workspace.

What Happens When You Leave a Slack Workspace?

After leaving the workspace, you can rejoin the workspace only if the admin invites you back. So, make sure you want to leave the workspace for good and not just sign out. Here's what happens when you leave a Slack workspace:

  • All the messages and files you sent will not be deleted.
  • It won't delete your profile info (including name, photo, email, job title, etc.). If you want it deleted, ask the workspace owner to send a request to Slack for your profile deletion.
  • The apps you installed in Slack will be disabled, but the owner can re-enable them.
  • Leaving one workspace doesn't affect other workspaces you might be associated with.
  • If you're the primary owner of the workspace, you can only leave the workspace after transferring the ownership to someone else.
