Welcome to our New World guide on How to Level Engineering! This guide teaches you all you need to know about How to Level Engineering, the best weapons and ammunition to craft to level up quickly, Workshop tiers, Perks, Gem Slots, and Attribute Points.

How to Level Engineering

What is Engineering?

Engineering is a Crafting Trade Skill that lets you make your own Muskets, Bows, Hatchets, and Spears at a Workshop in a settlement. It is perfect for players who don’t want to wait for weapons to drop from enemies or quests, and those who want the best of the best for their Aeternum adventure.

Like any Skill, Gathering plays a huge part in Engineering as well as you’ll need materials to craft your desired weapons and ammunition. Thankfully, there's nothing complicated about leveling up, either—the more you craft, the more XP you get.

I’m ready to learn how to level up my Engineering!

The Workshop

You can’t craft at just any Workshop. Each weapon and Ammunition type has a Tier level requirement, so you’ll need to find a Workshop that meets that in another Settlement if your local one doesn't.

To level up a Workshop's Tier, you and other players on your server need to complete requests from that Settlement’s Town Project Board—it’s not something you can do on your own.

To locate a Workshop that's the right level for what you want to craft easily, you can ask other players in the Area or Global Chats if they know where one is to save you checking every single Settlement.

I’ve found a Workshop that’s the correct Tier level for what I want to craft.

How to Engineer

When you're at a Workshop, you’ll see a list of recipes you can craft depending on what materials you have in your inventory. If you want to make the Last Light Spear, for example, you will need 20 Steel Ingot, 4 Gold Ingot, 4 Voidmetal, 5 Rugged Leather, and 15 Lumber.

Crafting, Trade Skills, and Gathering Skills go hand in hand with Engineering. For example, if you're not a high enough Mining level to gather Ore, or a certain Tanning level to refine Leather, you may not be able to craft what you want without spending a lot of coin at the Trading Board. So be mindful of your companion Skills, unless you’re happy with buying materials.

Once you’ve gathered your resources, head to their respective Crafting Station and refine them so that they can be used to create your weapon or Ammunition.

Perks, Gem Slots and Attribute Points

When crafting weapons, you can pay Azoth for a higher chance of making one with a Perk, Gem Slot, or Attribute Points. The more you pay, the better odds you have, though the end result is completely random and you’re not always guaranteed to get one that you want.

Special Resources are a different story. They are applied when crafting to ensure a certain Perk. For example, Carved Dryad Bark adds a Dexterity and Intelligence bonus to whatever weapon you make. You can get Special Resources from enemy drops, Mining ore, or from the Trading Board.

Leveling Engineering Fast

The more your character level increases, the higher weapons and ammunition you’ll need. So it’s important to increase your Engineering level if you are making your own stuff so you are keeping up to date with the best equipment available.
