It's that time of year again. Friends and family descend on your home, and you're anxiously shopping for the perfect Christmas gifts and wrapping them up in a special way, baking Christmas cookies that no one (especially Santa!) can resist, cooking up a delicious Christmas meal, and setting the perfect Christmas table. Regarding the latter, there's so much to do! Creating an ooh-and-ahh worthy holiday centerpiece, breaking out the cherished Christmas tablecloth along with the "good" china. When you want to go the extra mile, why not take the linen from ho-hum to ho-ho-ho? With some simple steps, you can transform a napkin into an adorable little tree that will be the perfect addition to a holiday table—no matter what your design scheme for the year might be. For an even more personal touch, you might try topping it with a star-shaped name card or punched paper ornaments peaking through the folds. Once you get the folding down, you'll probably get more ambitious and inspired to take on even more holiday crafts. Good thing it's never too late to sit down and write a letter to old Saint Nick asking for a glue gun for all of your endeavors. In the meantime, get to folding!

Step 1

Iron a square napkin and lay flat—20- and 16-inch squares work great for this folding project. It doesn't matter if the front or back of the napkin is facing up.

Note: You may have to remove the tag from the napkin so it doesn't show in the final design.
