With Valentines Day just around the corner, we’ve been thinking about ways to share the love with important people in our lives. Lately we’ve been realising how much of a difference actually using your hands and time makes. It’s one thing to give a gift and express love, but it’s another thing entirely to spend half an hour using your hands to make something.

So with that in mind, we thought we could give you an easy suggestion, coffee related of course, for a quick and special Valentines Day gift. We love this little coffee hack, as it makes use of that little random bag of coffee that has been hanging around without a purpose. Not fresh enough to drink, but you don’t want to throw it away. Alternatively you can collect your used coffee grounds in the fridge for a few days, but make sure you bake on low heat in the oven to evaporate any moisture before you start.

Coffee scrubs are said to reduce the appearance of cellulite, tighten and tone skin, exfoliate well and leave your skin feeling soft. Coffee is a great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory so why not use it on your skin as well as your insides. This super quick (seriously about 2 minutes) recipe is an awesome gift for any coffee lover.

Homemade Coffee Scrub Recipe

What you need:

• 1 part coffee grounds (used or not used)
• 1 part coconut oil (grab from Coles)
• 1 part brown sugar
• Jar to store it in (Try K-Mart)
• Large bowl for mixing
• Spoon for mixing

What you do:

• Measure out equal parts of coffee grounds, coconut oil and brown sugar into a large bowl
• Mix it up
• Spoon into your jar
• Keep in fridge to store

The scrub will stay good in the fridge for up to 4 weeks. If you’ve made it with used coffee grounds, ensure you bake in the oven to evaporate any water. This will prevent mould from appearing, and ruining your hard work!
