How To Make A Moving Car In Minecraft - Pro Game Guides

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides Since Slime Blocks were added, players have been using them in creative ways to make functioning vehicles. One of the most commonly attempted vehicle builds is a car. In this guide, we explain how to make a car in Minecraft that allows you to move forward and backward.
Recommended VideosSince advanced car mechanics such as steering and accelerating aren't possible in Minecraft (yet), the functionality of this car is rather limited. However, you can use it as a lazy (but slow) way to get from one place to another, a way to show off to your friends, or even as a hovercraft to stay clear of the mobs on the ground.
Making the Car
Step One: Get the materials you need.
You will need the following resources to build the car.
- 2 x Sticky Pistons
- 2 x Observers
- 11 x Slime Blocks
- 4 x Building Blocks for the wheels (Black Wool is ideal)
- 1 x Building Block for the body (your choice)
- 1 x Flint & Steel
Step Two: Place the wheels.
Place the four wheel blocks in the pattern shown below. The total space used should be a three-by-three square with none of the blocks touching each other. Technically, these wheels aren't necessary, but they add to the aesthetic and make it look more like a car.

Step Three: Place the Slime Blocks
You can place all 11 Slime Blocks next. It is easiest to place them in the order shown in the image below. The Slime Blocks are essential to moving the car, and the Sticky Pistons will not work with any other block, including Honey.

Step Four: Place the Observers, sticky pistons, and solid block.
Place the remaining blocks in the order shown in the image below. The placement and orientation of these objects is not optional. The Observers must be placed in a way that they face down. The Sticky Piston on the side of the car must face towards the back, and the Sticky Piston in the middle of the car must face towards the front. Place the solid block in the empty space on side of the car opposite the Sticky Piston.

Step Five: Control the car.
This is the most difficult part of this car, as it can be glitchy if you don't time it correctly. To make the car move forward or backward, you must ignite the Observer. To make it stop moving, ignite the Observer again. With this method, the Observer repeatedly detects a change and sends out a temporary signal to the Sticky Pistons, forcing them to extend and retract.

Step Six (Optional): Decorate the car.
The only solid block that is required is the block on the side of the car. You can place any other block on the Slime Blocks and it will bring it with when the car moves. However, it must touch a Slime Block. It won't work if it is on the corner of a Slime Block or connected to the car through any other solid block.
That's it for making a moving car in Minecraft!
