If you are putting together a theatrical play or stage performance, you can make the background look more realistic by placing a few props on the stage. For example, you can put faux rocks around a forest scene to make the forest look more natural. You can make an artificial rock out of a few basic craft supplies that can be found at an art supply store, such as paper mache pulp and acrylic paint.

Step 1

Mash the corners and edges of a cardboard box to make it look dented and mangled.

Mix together 6 cups of paper mache pulp and 3 cups of water in a bowl. Use a spoon to mix thoroughly. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
