How To Make A Pickaxe In Minecraft - Pro Game Guides

Mining is going to be one of the main things you'll be doing in Minecraft. That makes sense given the name, so having a Pickaxe is going to be helpful! If you want to learn how to create this very important tool, we're going through a step-by-step look at the process in this tutorial.

How to make a Pickaxe

Time needed: 5 minutes

To make a Pickaxe in Minecraft, we'll just need to gather some wood, make some planks, sticks, and then put it all together! We'll show you exactly how to do that in the steps below.

1. Gather Logs

   If you've already gotten yourself an Axe, then you can chop down some trees and skip some of these steps. However, if you're just starting out, then it's time to punch! Find just about any tree that is nearby and gather some logs from it by punching or chopping.

2. Make Wood Planks

   Open up your inventory and place the wood logs into the crafting area. Each log will create four planks, and we'll need nine in total.

3. Make a Crafting Table

   Take four of your planks and fill up the crafting space in your inventory. This will give us a Crafting Table!

4. Make Sticks

   Now we're going to two sticks. Place two wood planks into your Crafting Table or crafting area in your inventory. Stack the planks on top of each other to get four sticks!

5. Create the Pickaxe

   We have all the ingredients we need, so we just need to put it all together. If you haven't already, place your Crafting Table on the ground somewhere (you can pick it up again by punching or hitting it with a tool). Open it up and place two sticks starting at the bottom up the middle. Then take three wood planks and place across the top as seen in the image.

That's everything you need to know to make a basic wooden pickaxe! You will want to get some cobblestone pretty quickly and upgrade to a stone pickaxe which is the same recipe but with cobble instead of wooden planks. You can also eventually make an iron, gold, diamond or even netherite pickaxe as you get further into the game!
