You can add cleaning to your list of super powers with this DIY glob of grime-busting goo. It will help you get into those hard-to-reach places and make them cleaner than ever before. Say bye-bye to all the gunk that builds up in those tiny nooks and crannies. All it takes is school glue, some borax and a little warm water to create this fun cleaning putty. Before you know it, you'll be ridding your world of unwanted dust, crumbs and lint. This cleaning slime is as much fun to make as it is to use. It might even bring out your inner child while cleaning, and you'll be having so much fun that you won't want to stop. Besides, what super hero doesn't like playing with slime?

Things You'll Need

• 1/4 cup borax

• 1 1/2 cups warm water

• 4 oz. white school glue

• A few drops of food coloring (optional)

How to Make Homemade Cleaning Slime

1. Mix Borax and Water

In a small mixing bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of borax and 1 cup of very warm water. Stir them together until the borax is dissolved. It helps to break up the chunks of borax ahead of time before you mix it into the water. Set this bowl aside.

2. Mix Glue and Water

In a large mixing bowl, mix 4 ounces of white school glue with 1/2 cup of water. Make sure the water is very warm. Stir this mixture until the school glue is totally dissolved in the water. You can add food coloring at this point to make the slime more fun, but the color is for looks only, so it is entirely up to you whether you'd like color or not.

3. Combine Borax Mixture with Glue Mixture

Combine the borax mixture with the glue mixture. It will immediately begin to congeal as you stir.

4. Knead Mixture

Now, for the really fun part. As soon as the mixture starts to form a ball, pick it up from the water that remains and knead it with your hands until it becomes dry and pliable. You can go ahead and discard the extra water.

If you don't happen to have any borax around the house, there are a few other cleaning slime recipes using other common household ingredients that work just as well.

This no-borax slime recipe uses liquid starch instead. Mix 1/2 cup of liquid starch and 4 ounces of white school glue in a mixing bowl. Whisk this mixture until it is completely combined. Add 1/4 cup of warm water and blend together. Pick up the slime with your hands and knead it until it becomes dry and puttylike.

Perhaps liquid starch isn't available to you either. Not to worry — you can also make DIY cleaning slime from three other common household ingredients. Blend together 4 ounces of white school glue, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 1/2 tablespoons of multipurpose contact solution. Stir them until it forms a ball that you can pick up and knead into another handy blob of your very own cleaning slime.

How to Clean Keyboards With Cleaning Slime

No matter which recipe you choose, your cleaning slime can be used to remove dust and crumbs from all the nooks and crannies in your computer keyboard. Just push the blob gently between the keys and when you pull it off, voila! You'll be amazed at all the grime that sticks to the cleaning slime.

If you have an older keyboard with deep keys, just place the slime on top of the area you'd like to clean and let it sit for a few minutes. The cleaning slime will slowly move to fill in all the deep cracks and crevices so when you pull off the slime, the deeply ingrained dust and dirt will come up with it.

How to Use Cleaning Slime to Clean Hair Dryers

You can even use the cleaning slime to clean your hair dryer. What? Yes, we did say hair dryer! The crevices in the air intake of your hair dryer will eventually fill up with lint, making your hair dryer less effective. Push the DIY cleaning slime into the little vent crannies to pull out all of the lint and hopefully make your hair dryer last a little longer. Who knew?

How to Use Cleaning Slime in Your Car

Don't forget your car. The dashboard is full of hard-to-reach places, which can make cleaning your car a real chore. Never fear — your homemade goo is sure to go a long way to freshen up the air vents, the center console and all the little cracks and crevices. You'll be amazed at how much dust and grime your little ball of slime is able to remove.
