Preparing a hamburger on the George Foreman Grill is an easy task to complete. Unlike traditional grilling, you do not have to worry about flipping the burger over halfway through the cooking cycle. Once you place the hamburger on your George Foreman Grill, you do not need to check on it again until it has completed cooking unless you need to add cheese.

Step 1
Turn on the George Foreman Grill for at least five minutes. When grilling a hamburger, searing the outside is important, so you will want the grill at a high temperature when you put the meat on.

Step 2
Prepare your hamburger patty. Divide the ground beef into the size portion that you wish for your hamburger, and roll it into a ball. Gently flatten the hamburger between your hands into a round disk. The ideal thickness for a hamburger on a George Foreman Grill is between 1/4 and 3/8 inches.

Place the hamburger on the George Foreman Grill. You will want to grill your hamburger 4 minutes on the George Foreman Grill for a medium done burger. For medium-well, grill it 6 minutes; for a well done hamburger, grill it 8 minutes.
Step 4
Open the grill for the last minute of the grilling period and place your choice of cheese on the hamburger. This will allow the cheese to melt slightly.

Step 5
Remove the hamburger and place it on a paper towel or plate to drain any remaining grease off the hamburger. While the hamburger cools, spray each half of your hamburger bun with vegetable oil lightly and place each side that was sprayed on a cooking surface. Do not close the grill. After a minute, your bun will have a crisp surface, allowing it to hold condiments such as ketchup and mustard without them being overly absorbed into the bun.
Tip
Halfway through the grilling cycle, place a piece of bacon on the George Foreman Grill if you would like to top your hamburger with it.
Warning
Do not close your George Foreman Grill after placing the cheese on the hamburger or it will stick to the upper grilling plate.
