How To Make Polymer In ARK - ProGameTalk

Polymer is one of the later resources you get after progressing further with your base and is used for higher-tier crafting.

Fabricated weapons and stronger equipment can be created with Polymer, included several Tek equipment and structures.

While Polymer is valuable, it does become easier to craft if you have the source for the materials to craft an abundant supply of it.

How to Make Polymer?

You can start crafting Polymer via the Fabricator once you learn it (requires level 48 to learn Engram) and this consumes 2 Cementing Paste and 2 Obsidian.

It is quite easy to craft Polymer since these amounts are quite small and your main focus will be to obtain Cementing Paste by crafting or obtaining it through other methods.

Obsidian is pretty easy to get as long as you have access to resource-rich mountains or lava areas that spawn these black-colored rocks.

Later on, you can craft Polymer in the Tek Replicator once you obtain the resources to create one and have unlocked its Tek Engram.

Polymer Uses

Polymer is used to craft an abundance of the late-game items that you will be using in Ark, this includes weapons, structures, and more.

Weapons built with Polymer include:

• Assault Rifle
• C4 Charge
• C4 Remote
• Compound Bow
• Fabricated Pistol
• Fabricated Sniper Rifle
• Metal Arrow
• Pump-Action Shotgun
• Rocket Launcher
• Rocket Propelled Grenade

Armor crafted with Polymer includes:

• Heavy Miner’s Helmet
• Riot Armor (Set)
• Riot Shield
• SCUBA Tank
• SCUBA Leggings
• Tek Armor (Set)

Structures that require Polymer include:

• Auto Turret
• Behemoth Gateway
• Chemistry Bench
• Heavy Auto Turret
• Industrial Forge
• Industrial Grinder
• Industrial Cooker
• Vault

Saddles that are crafted using Polymer include:

• Megalodon Tek Saddle
• Mosasaur Tek Saddle
• Rex Tek Saddle
• Rock Drake Tek Saddle
• Tapejara Tek Saddle
• Tropegnathus Saddle

Other items can be crafted using Polymer which includes tools, structures, and more, all of which require not only Polymer but other resources as well.

Organic Polymer

It’s green and nasty but it does the trick, Organic Polymer can be used as a replacement resource for standard Polymer.

You will notice that the requirement for Polymer is filled up whenever there is Organic Polymer present, making it a good substitute for standard Polymer.

Sources for Organic Polymer include killing and harvesting Kairuku, Mantis, Deathworms or can be obtained by other means such as from Achatina producing it and more.

Verdict

A good supply of Polymer will allow you to create some of the best equipment you can find in the game, especially when it comes to crafting gear using blueprints.

Having access to a source of Organic Polymer will allow you to substitute a lot of materials for a few minutes of farming.

It is still good to have Polymer on hand just in case as well as for trading since some players will need Polymer themselves.

Making use of both Polymer and Organic Polymer is a good idea, but using Organic Polymer should come first as it does expire over time, whereas standard Polymer doesn’t.
