How to make strawberry roses - these are so easy to make and perfect for valentines day or healthy flower themed party food!
Today I'm sharing a fun food tutorial - how to make strawberry roses. This is my first blog post of the year, and I'm really pleased with how this little project turned out.
These cute strawberry roses are much easier to make than you might think, and I've created a quick video tutorial (see below) to prove it!
They'd make lovely party food, a fun snack or healthy cute food for Valentines Day when it arrives next month, and call me odd but I'd probably be more pleased with a dozen of these yummy edible roses than the traditional kind if I'm completely honest!
If you child is old enough to use a knife, you could challenge them to have a go at making a strawberry rose themselves (under close supervision of course!), I bet they'd love to amaze family and friends with this clever little party trick!

Strawberry Roses
Ingredients:
- Large ripe strawberries, leaves intact
- raisins (optional)
Equipment:
- silicone flowerpot cake cases (optional)
- cake pop or lolly sticks
- 1 cocktail stick or skewer
- small sharp knife
Method:
Start by filling the flowerpot cake cases with raisins ready to hold your roses. You could skip this step if preferred, and just pop the finished strawberries into a glass, lay them on a plate or present them however you wish. If you have a bit more time, you could even bake chocolate cakes in the flowerpot cake cases, the roses would make such a pretty cake decoration for a special occasion!
Take a strawberry, and snip off the stalk with pair of scissors, leaving the leaves in place. Take the cocktail stick or skewer, and make a small hole in the top of the strawberry (through the middle of the leaves) for the stick to go in. Push the lolly stick into the hole then remove. This will make it easier to put together once the strawberry has been cut.
Place the strawberry, leaves side down, onto a chopping board and make cuts around the bottom of the strawberry to form the petals. Once you've got your bottom row of petals, cut the next row, moving further up the strawberry each time. Continue until you have made cuts right the way up to the top.
Gently pull the petals away from the strawberry to form the rose, then pop the lolly stick back into the bottom of the rose. Push the other end of the stick into the flower pot full of raisins to serve. Repeat until you have as many roses as you need.

As I mentioned above, I've made a quick video tutorial to show you how easy it is to make these strawberry roses.
