How to Measure a Table January 30, 2020 Loading Facebook Like button…

Tables can be many different shapes and sizes. If your table is round, square or rectangular, you still need to provide a full set of measurements. Whether you are buying or selling a table, providing accurate measurements- along with great photographs- is vital.

Details of your Table

Your buyers might be look for a table for a dining room, a lounge, a kitchen, an office or even a low table for a bedroom. Providing as many measurements as possible will give them a clear idea of where the table might work in their house. Dining tables do tend to be a standard height, but never let your potential buyers assume anything. Make sure all of the measurements are clearly itemised.

How to measure your Table

Using a tape measure, follow these tips to get clear and accurate measurements of your table:

  1. Height: Measure the height from tabletop to floor.

  2. Width: Measure the width of the table from side to side at the widest point or the diameter if the table is round.

  3. Diagonal Depth: Measure the diagonal depth of a sofa by placing a straight tape measure from the top back of the frame to the bottom front.

As well as measuring the top of the table, also make sure you measure the width of the table base, if this applies. If the legs are particularly wide, make sure this is mentioned. A table with pull out leaves can be a great furniture buy for a smaller space or an apartment. If your table is an extension table with pull out leaves, make sure you provide measurements of both the folded and extended states. If you’re measuring a coffee table, you’ll need the same measurements. Some coffee tables, especially retro styles, have a rack or shelf under the tabletop to hold books or magazines. Make sure to measure how deep this shelf is and measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the shelf.

Happy shopping or selling.
