Thanks for the reply. There is no way to do this from the Operating System. You can only do it within the app if it has the setting.

Alternatively, you can always try to find a third-party app to do this for you.  While we are unable to endorse or recommend a product or assuming any responsibility for its performance, the best thing to do will be to research audio apps that might have this feature. You can look for third-party apps in the App Store. When looking at apps use chart position, ratings and reviews, and even the Editors’ Choice Badge to assist in making your decision. Hello dobrynin_video,

It sounds like you want to mute Final Cut Pro so you can listen to music while using the app.

It is the case that you cannot mute a specific app from the macOS. The app itself would have to have a master audio control. As Final Cut Pro does not have this control, you would have to temporarily mute your clips Solo and mute audio clips in Final Cut Pro as well as in your Event Browser Configure audio channels in Final Cut Pro.

I know I can do it this way, but what if.....there would be a magic button/widget/whatever where you can see a list of all running apps with sound on. So you can mute them in one or two clicks. Final cut is just an example.
