We've all seen (or experienced) it: You're wearing your favorite pair of yoga pants or that floral romper (perfect for 80+-degree weather) and…hello, camel toe, that pesky "paw print" that acts like an arrow directing everyone's eyes straight to your lady parts.

"The main cause is improper fit," says stylist Mia Tucker Williams. "It happens when pants are too tight and/or too thin in the crotch region, which leads to unwanted cleavage in that area." The same thing can happen with shorts and rompers.

Pick your panties carefully

Williams’ biggest tip for avoiding camel toe is to never go commando when wearing thin, stretchy fabrics. Instead, she recommends wearing thicker seamless panties, which are less likely to shift into the folds within the vaginal area (nice visual, right?). Instead, they'll give you a consistently smooth appearance, hiding lines and creases.

Avoid yoga pants or tights that are thin enough to see through, and look for workout bottoms with a wider elastic waistband that hits at the navel or right below it. Just as with panties, pants that are made of thinner fabrics have more give and flexibility, which make them more likely to slide between your legs. A wider waistband will grip (support) your waist better than a thinner waistband so you aren't constantly pulling them up and creating an inadvertent camel toe look.
When choosing rompers, Williams tells clients to stay away from bottoms with a shorter rise, especially if they fit snug around the waist. "Go for pieces with a more relaxed fit through the waistline,” says Williams. “This will allow for movement along your midsection, which helps to create more flexibility and breathability in the crotch area."

Grab a panty liner

Williams recommends wearing a panty liner if you're prone to crotch cleavage. Place the liner in your underwear horizontally (instead of vertically), and then wrap and secure it around the seat of your underwear. This will give you three additional layers of protection.
8Always look for lining

When shopping for workout gear, look for leggings that have a polyester blend (such as spandex or elastane) or pants with a lining built into the crotch. The lining adds another barrier between your pants and lady parts—and the more layers between the two, the less likely the fabric will be to slide into the area.

You should also steer clear of 100 percent polyester and really thin fabrics. Linen and polyester are more prone to wrinkling, and that’s not a good look in an area prone to camel toe.
10Darker colors will also be more flattering

You can never go wrong with black (it’ll make the crotch cleavage less obvious), and if all else fails, pair leggings with longer tops that hit right at the top of the thigh area or right below your bottom to cover your crotch.
