Opening the hood on your BMW vehicle is a streamlined procedure thanks to the double pull hood release lever.

The hood release lever is located at the base of the A pillar near the driver’s footrest.
Pulling the hood release once will pop the hood, but doesn’t unlatch it. To unlatch the hood, simply pull the release a second time and the hood can be lifted open.

You will notice that on the hood release lever there is a 2X indicator to remind you of this two step functionality.
This simplified process means that there is no lever underneath the hood to find and unlatch allowing you to save time and keep your hands clean.
