How to PingBy Joseph Yaden, Aric Pun, Wezley Wright, +11 moreUpdated: Dec 22, 2021 6:55am UTCOne of the keys to success in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific is to utilize its pinging system. This will mark specific points of interest for your team--like Supply Boxes, weapons, enemies, or anything else. Even if you're chatting with friends to communicate verbally, utilizing the ping system can help communicate more effectively. Here's IGN's guide on how to ping in Call of Duty: Warzone.
Different Ways to Ping
By pressing up on the d-pad, you'll ping whatever your character is looking at. There are multiple ways to ping:
- Specific Objects
- Via Tac Map
- Free Ping
- Enemies
Specific Objects
When pinging specific objects, your team will be notified of whatever it is you're looking at. For example, if you ping a weapon, your squad will see a weapon icon on their screens--the same goes for any intractable item, from ammo, to vehicles, and Supply Boxes.
Via Tac Map
If you pull up your map, you can move the cursor to any location you please to place a marker and your team will be notified. You'll likely be using this feature while dropping onto the map from above, but you can use it whenever you'd like. This is a great way to direct your team towards far away locations.
Free Ping
As the name suggests, free pinging allows you to place a marker anywhere on the map. This happens when you ping a piece of land or anything that isn't an object like a weapon, item, vehicle, or enemy. This is great for directing your team towards a specific place, instead of towards a specific object.
Enemies
Arguably the most important aspect of pinging is when enemies are nearby. You can ping an enemy and a red marker will appear above their head to notify your squad mates. Sometimes it can be finicky depending on the enemy position, but if you double tap up on the d-pad, a red marker will appear, indicating that an enemy is nearby.
If you directly ping an enemy, the marker will eventually go away, so be sure to be diligent when scanning the area.
