Veuve Clicquot (verve' klee-coh') is a variety of champagne produced by Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin, a champagne house founded in 1772 in Reims, a city in the Champagne-Ardenne region of northeastern France. The winemaker's premium champagnes are noted for their excellence (and expense, relative to other sparking wines), as well as the difficulty westerners may face in pronouncing the name.
