You might be wondering how to put together a trampoline and what tools are needed. In most cases, manufacturers provide trampoline setup services, but you need to pay a handsome amount for this.

If you are a budget-constraint person then you can assemble the trampoline with the help of one or two friends or family members. You can also do it as a DIY task. But you need to learn first how to set up a trampoline.

If you are a person who wants to understand the trampoline assembly method, then this article will be the right place for you. Although manufacturers provide the installation manuals with each trampoline, you might not be capable of understanding clearly all from there. So, we are here to make clear all the doubts regarding trampoline installations. Stay tuned!

Everything About How to Put Together A Trampoline

How to put together a trampolineJust like any other project, you need some tools and accessories as well as time and effort to complete the project trampoline setup. In this article, we will teach you how to assemble a trampoline and make it ready to use. You also need to avoid a few things for better outputs during the installation. Learning all the things will lessen your complexity in the trampoline setup process.

Step-by-Step Trampoline Installation Guide

For your easy understanding of how to build a trampoline, we will explain the whole process in several steps. Let’s begin.

Preparation for Assembly

You need to prepare yourself in a few ways for the trampoline installation. These include-

Step 1: Unbox The Packages and Review The Materials

First of all, you need to open the boxes and check the parts and tools that should usually come in two or three packages. Make sure, all the essential parts are present there that are listed in the trampoline manuals. Missing a single piece might be a reason to refrain from installing the trampoline.

Unbox-Trampoline-Packages-and-Review-Materials

Usually, trampolines box includes-

  • Trampoline frame, legs, T-sockets (4 to 6 pieces for each according to trampolins sizes)
  • Enclosure net
  • Enclosure poles (4 to 6 according to size)
  • Steel trampoline ladder (included for a few models)
  • Anchoring accessories and strings
  • Trampoline spring cover and padding

Check for the trampoline parts checklist again. If there is any missing piece or broken part, tears, or holes in the mat and any faults don’t hesitate to contact the manufacturer immediately. They will either ship the missing parts or replace a new trampoline. So, don’t worry.

Step 2: Lay Out The Parts

When you have all the pieces at hand to set up the trampoline. Now, you need to set out the parts on flat ground. You can organize small or big pieces into different categories.

The aim of this organization is to find out the necessary parts easily during the assembly process.

Step 3: Tools Required for Trampoline Assembly

Tools-Required-for-Trampoline-Assembly

Putting together a trampoline is not a tough job that you can’t finish off. But without the necessary tools, you are unable to do it.

Fortunately, manufacturers supply a few of them. Occasionally you need several other tools and accessories that should be managed.

Manufacturers provided trampolines assembly tools are:

  • Phillips head Screwdrivers to tighten the screws
  • Spring puller for setting up springs properly
  • Rubber mallets to install the springs properly

The other required tools and accessories include:

  • Power drill for faster assembly
  • Protective gloves to prevent your skin from getting caught up
  • Wrench set needs occasionally for tightening purposes

You have to use these tools and accessories when needed. For example, you need to use gloves throughout the project.

Step 4: Read The Trampoline Assembly Manuals

This is important to read the trampoline instruction thoroughly to understand how to install a trampoline. Most trampoline manufacturers provide handsome instructions. So read it carefully to avoid mistakes.

Also, don’t forget to keep the manual in a safe place it will come in handy whenever you need to replace any parts of the trampoline. If you lose it, you have to manually measure the trampoline before replacing any parts.

Step 5: Take Partners for Easiness

Take Partner to put together a trampoline

Although you can complete the trampoline assembly project, still you should call one or two friends to do the DIY task. Surely, they also enjoy it. But never allow kids to come near the assembly until the process goes over.

This is all about the preparation stage. Now, it’s time to start the project at hand.

Part by Part Trampoline Installation Guide

Part-by-Part-Trampoline-Installation-Guide

You have all the trampoline parts, necessary tools, and manpower. So why are you waiting to start the part-by-part trampoline assembly? Let’s start it.

Step 6: How to Assemble A Trampoline Frame

Begin with the frame. You can set out the frame parts in the ground. Make sure there is enough space with clearance to install the large shape. Then, connect the T-sections with the frame parts. T-sockets help to connect the frame with the legs.

How-to-assemble-a-trampoline-frame

Now, start pushing one piece into another and make a complete circular or rectangular ring. This is the foundation of the trampoline. The other parts of trampolines can be added gradually with this foundation.

After completing the ring foundation, start adding the legs. You will see spots on the rings to attach the legs with rings. Join each leg with the T-sections that we added earlier with the ring which is a vital part of the DIY trampoline wrestling ring.

The legs fitting with the foundation ring is easy. However, if there is any problem, you can use the rubber mallet to line up the holes.

Now, take the bolts/screws and fix the legs and T-joints together with the help of Phillips head screwdrivers. You can use the electric drill instead of a screwdriver to do the process faster. Make sure, you tighten all the screws properly and that the frame is secure.

After completing the frame assembly, go for the most tricky part.

Step 7: Installing Springs and Mat

Many trampoline users get confused about which one should be installed first springs or mats. Actually, they are added to the trampolines together for specific reasons. Now, we will explain how to put springs on a trampoline and how to put a trampoline mat on.

Add one side of the spring to any v-ring of the mat and another side with the frame. Next, attach another spring in a similar way to the opposite side of the first one.

Then, attach a spring at 90 degrees to the first two’s and the next one on the opposite side. First, four springs are the foundation. Afterward, attach the other springs with the mat and frame.

Installing-Trampoline-Springs-and-Mat

The process requires strength. The spring puller helps greatly to draw the springs and the rubber mallet helps by hitting the springs and snapping them into the right place. The alternate spring-adding process on the opposite sides will keep the tension balanced.

So, you’ve learned how to install trampoline springs and mats. Now, the trampoline is almost ready but you need to install the springs pad, enclosure net, and ladder for safety. There are also some alternatives to the trampoline spring tool which you can check.

Step 8: Adding The Protective Trampoline Pad

Trampoline springs cover pad protects users from the direct hit of the springs. The foam padding also gives a cushioned touch and prevents spring landing injuries. There are Velcro or straps to fasten the protective pad to the frame. It also goes through the enclosure poles.

Add-Protective-Trampoline-Part

Several top-brand trampolines nowadays come with direct switching between the mat and net, these trampolines eliminate the pad totally.

Step 9: Adding Safety Net on Trampoline

Most adult-sized outdoor trampolines have an enclosure net that protects the direct hit of the trampoline frame and works as a guard against falling outside. So, let’s learn the basics of how to put a safety net on a trampoline and how to thread the trampoline net.

Usually, there are a few trampoline net poles that act as the frame for the enclosure net. These poles can be easily snapped into customized frame holes. Then they are secured with screws with the help of screwdrivers. The enclosure pads cover the poles and protect jumpers from getting hurt.

Add-Safety-Net-On-Trampoline

After installing the net poles you have to attach the net to the poles. You need to thread the net to the trampoline steel rods. Fasten the bungee loops or stings (also used in top bungee chairs) with the net at the bottom of the frame. Also, tie the top of the net with the posts using the provided strings or fittings.

Nowadays, few manufacturers provide a net that is already fixed with the poles then you needn’t worry about how to put a trampoline net on. After installing the safety net, you can allow your kids to jump over the trampoline for a while. But there are also a few minor setups left.

Step 10: Add the Trampoline Ladder and Secure it with Anchor Kit

The ladder allows easy climb and exit from the trampoline. Normally, the trampoline ladder has 3 or 4 steps. You need to secure the ladder with the hooks and set it on the trampoline.

The anchor kit protects your trampolines from being blown away. This accessory helped in this regard to secure the trampolines in the ground. Just insert the anchorage in the ground and fasten it with the anchor kit.

Step 11: Add Additional Accessories During Trampoline Set Up

Sometimes you need to include the best trampoline tent, clubhouse, basketball hoop with the trampoline, and many more. You are welcome for doing so. We discuss here only the basic trampoline installation process.

So how to put together a trampoline? The short answer is, in 10 steps. Unbox the package, lay out the parts, get the tools, read the manual, take help, assemble frame, install spring & mats, add trampoline pad, add safety net, and add ladder after securing anchor kit. You can also make a trampoline ladder on your own.

Now your trampoline is fully safe and ready for action. Congratulations on assembling the trampoline successfully. So, start jumping!

Common Trampoline Assembly Problems

Trampoline assembly problemsIf you just completed the trampoline assembly for the first time, it’s natural to have some common trampoline assembly mistakes. Most of the common trampoline assembly errors are happened due to a poor understanding of the manuals.

If you try to attach each and every spring with the mat without following the rule of the genuine process that we discussed earlier. Then you may face problems after completing the halfway attachment. So, attach 4 to 8 springs first and then complete the process.

Sometimes you are not concerned about trampoline setup areas. If there are large trees, then a bunch of trees may fall upon the trampolines and cause huge damage. Similarly, roofs, cables, shrubs, and other adjacent items could pose hazards and damage.

These are a few trampoline assembly errors. Try to avoid these mistakes and set up your trampoline according to the aforementioned way. And, always take care of your trampoline for long-lasting use and maintain it in the winter. Also, try to learn the disassembling techniques of a trampoline for your own benefit.

How Long Does It Take to Put A Trampoline Together?

Kids do not want to wait for long for jumping on the new trampoline. After a while, they continuously ask you how long it takes to put a trampoline together.

This totally depends on the trampoline size, design, and technician skills. Typically, professional assemblers need 3 to 5 hours to complete the setup process on average to a medium-sized trampoline. But you might be a little bit slower. A few small-sized will be ready within an hour. The indoor trampolines for kids come in a fully assembled condition.

Does A Trampoline Need to Be Level?

Absolutely, you should set up a trampoline on a level surface. Otherwise, the trampoline can’t deliver even bounce which can cause severe injury to the back. Besides, it is a must to have the maximum bounce effect from your trampoline.

Can A Trampoline Mat Be Repaired?

Whether you can repair a torn mat or not, depends on the hole size. If the size is larger than two inches, you can’t repair it.  Any holes less than that can be repaired easily. For repairing, sewing skills are required. You have to buy a patch kit for doing it. Just place the patch kit material over the tear and use a sewing machine to repair it.

Why Is My Trampoline Mat Loose?

Trampolines mat can be loose for various reasons. If your trampoline is a second-hand product it can be loosened. Some new trampolines mat might loosen due to your setup problem or the manufacturer’s faulty design. However, consult with an expert or manufacturer to solve this.

How Much Space Is Needed Around A Trampoline?

It is highly recommended to maintain a minimum clearance of 1.5m on all sides of your trampoline and the minimum height clearance should be 6m from the ground.
