How To Redact Text Within A PDF Document. - PDF Office Edition 4.2

Redact Text

Using the Redact feature, you can select a block of text and replace it with a black rectangle. This option removes the text completely from the document. The visual effect is the same as if, in a hard-copy page, the redacted text is blacked out with permanent marker.

  1. Open your PDF document.
  2. Switch to Edit Mode. To do so: click the icon on the toolbar. - OR - Right-click on the document and select Edit from the right-click menu.
  3. Drag cursor over the text you want to redact to select it. Note: Redacting text is a permanent action upon saving the document. If you change your mind after making a redaction, close the document without saving the changes, re-open it, and start over.
  4. Right-click over selected text and choose Edit and then Redact from the right-click menu.
  5. A unmovable black box will appear where the text was.
  6. Choose next to Close to exit out of Edit Mode.

Redact Images

Using the Redact feature, you can select an image and replace it with a black box. This option removes the image completely from the document. The visual effect is the same as if, in a hard-copy page, the redacted text is blacked out with permanent marker.

  1. Open your PDF document.
  2. Switch to Edit Mode. To do so: click the icon on the toolbar. - OR - Right-click on the document and select Edit from the right-click menu.
  3. Click the image you want to redact to select it. Note: Redacting text is a permanent action upon saving the document. If you change your mind after making a redaction, close the document without saving the changes, re-open it, and start over.
  4. Right-click on selected image and choose Edit and then Redact from the right-click menu.
  5. A unmovable black box will appear where the image was.
  6. Choose next to Close to exit out of Edit Mode.
