How to remove a double cylinder deadbolt? Resolution:

Schlage and Falcon double cylinder deadbolts have concealed screws to prevent tampering. The two methods used to conceal the thru-bolts are using screw caps or a faceplate. Use the below instructions to remove the appropriate deadbolt.

Screw caps (Figure 1)

Deadbolts using screw caps are easy to identify as there are two circular caps over the thru-bolts. Typically these caps are removed by drilling them out, but if they weren't attached securely then you might be able to pry them off. Once the screw caps are removed you can remove the screws normally.

Faceplate (Figure 2)

Deadbolts with a faceplate covering the inside thru-bolts appear to have normal outside and inside housings. This can cause some confusion if you don't know what you're looking for. There will be a small divot under the cylinder plug hole where a small flat screwdriver, or similar object, can be used to pry off the faceplate. The faceplate can be damaged during removal so use care when removing if you plan on installing it again. Once the faceplate has been removed you will see the thru-bolts and they can be removed normally.
