How to remove a trapped squirrel from inside your wallby Sia
Sometimes squirrels make their way into your attic and then inside your walls. Most of the time they’re smart enough and physically capable enough to climb back up, sometimes they’re not. This is one of those times, a squirrel was stuck inside a wall in a Vaughan home. We were called to investigate sounds coming from the wall, which turned out to be a trapped squirrel. Once we cut the wall and attempted to grab the squirrel, it pounced out of the wall into our net. Thanks to our helpful client for holding the net, a technician took the squirrel outside and released it. No vehicles were visible during the time of release.
Before all that, we looked for the entry point of the squirrel and made sure it couldn’t get back in. This squirrel was accidentally let in through the garage door when it was left open. Once we identified this, we made sure it wouldn’t happen in the future.
Removal tools
Any net from your local Canadian Tire / Home Depot store.
Drywall saw.
Personal protective equipment (Heavy duty animal gloves).
Post-repair equipment to replace the drywall into place and paint it.
Untrained or unprofessional attempts at catching and removing your own squirrels or animal problems can get you hurt! Always call a professional for help. It’s not always easy catching animals with traps, nets and boxes and hands on releasing them.
