No one wants blood stains on their couch or dress shirt, but these are actually easy to remove with the right enzyme cleaner. Specifically, an enzyme cleaner for blood stains.

Whether you're dealing with fresh or old blood stains, here are the step-by-step methods to restore cloth surfaces!

What's the Best Enzyme Cleaner for Blood Stains?

To thoroughly get a blood stain out of upholstery, you'll need a product that's designed to completely break down stain particles. That's why we worked with physicians and PhD chemists to create a color-safe, hypoallergenic, and 99.96% natural enzymatic cleaner for all kinds of splotches and messes!

Puracy Natural Stain Remover utilizes all six plant-based enzymes to get in between upholstery fibers and completely eradicate thousands of stains and subsequent odors. Our closest competitor only uses three.

What Enzyme Removes Blood Stains?

Plant enzymes are proteins that break down organic materials – and each one has a specific job and a corresponding natural chemical reaction. When you choose an enzymatic cleaner for blood stains, be sure that it includes protease (which removes protein-based stains like blood, baby formula, and urine).

Whether you have to remove blood stains from a couch or blood out of carpet, an enzyme cleaner is your best solution.

For Fresh Stains

Dilute fresh blood stains with warm water. Firmly blot using a clean, dry microfiber cloth and continue until the cloth stops picking up color.

1. Saturate

Spray the stain thoroughly with Puracy Natural Stain Remover.

2. Let It Sit

For upholstery, let the Stain Remover sit for at least 15 minutes.

For carpet stains, put a heavy skillet or book in a high-quality plastic bag (cheap dyes can transfer onto the upholstered surface), then place it on the soiled area to sit overnight.

3a. Grab a Microfiber Cloth

Dip a clean microfiber cloth in warm water and gently wring it out. Press into the stain using a gentle back and forth motion. Continuously rinse the cloth in your bowl, wring, and repeat until the stain and the stain remover are completely rinsed away.

3b. Use a Carpet Cleaning Machine

For homes with pets, kids, or an accident-prone partner, a carpet cleaning machine can be a great way to keep upholstered surfaces looking their best.

4. Repeat (If Necessary)

If you can still see the stain, consider repeating the process with a longer saturation time.

Getting a Blood Stain Out of Clothes & Other Fabrics

Whether you're dealing with fresh or old blood stains on clothing or bedsheets, follow these instructions for machine-washable fabrics:

1. Saturate

Break out your Puracy Natural Stain Remover and spray the affected area until it's totally saturated.

2. Agitate

Use a soft laundry brush or toothbrush to work the formula into the fabric. Don't have one handy? Rub the fabric together with two hands.

3. Wait

Wait at least 15 minutes before washing. However, the longer you wait, the more time the plant enzymes have to consume stain particles. In fact, older and more stubborn stains can sit in the hamper for a few days.

Note: Don't leave Puracy Stain Remover on silk and wool for longer than one hour.

4. Wash

Choose an extra rinse cycle to make sure that stain particles are totally rinsed from the fabric. We recommend using our Natural Laundry Detergent, which is formulated with plant enzymes (including protease) to get deep in the fabric.

5. Repeat (If Necessary)

When you pull your clothes out of the washer, check to make sure that the stain is completely gone. If you spot a spot, don't put it in the dryer! Extra-stubborn stains will need to go through another cycle of treatment.

Pro Tip: Keep a small spray bottle of Puracy Natural Stain Remover in your gym bag or carry-on bag. Spray the blood stain ASAP and let it sit until it's ready to be washed!
