Apple’s iMessage is quite a versatile app, much more so than other regular SMS/MMS apps. It allows Apple device users to send text messages, pictures, and even voice notes instantly to other Apple devices over Wi-Fi. It also allows users to create text message groups with multiple contacts.

To remove a person from a text message group, there are two conditions that need to be met:

  • All users in the group must be using iMessage. The remove option won’t appear if any one of them is using a third-party messaging app.
  • The group chat must have at least four participants (including yourself).

When you remove someone from a text message group, they’re not notified. They can still see the previous messages and the list of contacts in the group, but they won’t receive new messages sent in the group. They also won’t be able to see any new contact you add to it.

Removing Someone from a Text Message Group

Removing Yourself from a Text Message Group

Removing yourself is just as easy as removing other people from a text message group. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Tap Info to go to the “Details” menu of the group conversation.

  2. Scroll down and tap Leave this Conversation.
