We've all done it, but it doesn't have to be a disaster: if you accidentally close a browser tab, you can get it back.
It can be frustrating when it happens and it happens often enough, but if you read on you will discover a simple trick to make this annoyance a thing of the past.
Whether you closed by accident or have changed your mind and want the tab back again, it can easily be done, whether you're browsing on a Windows or Mac computer and on various browsers.
How to reopen tabs in Chrome
Google's browser has multiple options here. On your keyboard, you can hit Command+Shift+T (on Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+T (on Windows). Doing this once will bring up your most recently closed tab, doing so again will bring back the penultimate one and so on.
Alternatively, you can right click on the tab menu bar area and select reopen closed tab. Again, the more you do this, the further back in your closed tabs history you go.
How to reopen tabs in Safari
If Safari is your browser of choice, you can use the same keyboard shortcut we mentioned above: Command+Shift+T (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+T (Windows).
Or, if you prefer using the mouse, you can enter the history tab in the menu bar, where you'll find several recently closed tab options, including "Restore All Windows from Last Session".
How to reopen tabs in Firefox
The keyboard shortcuts are the same again. Your other option is to go to to the icon in the upper right corner that resembles books on a shelf.
From there, you can go to History, which will offer recently closed tabs and windows options.
