BEFORE YOU START
  • Be careful not to touch any hot part of the engine. Work only on a cold engine.
  • Make sure not to disconnect the battery immediately after turning Off the engine. Wait 10 minutes before doing so.
Canister Purge Valve EP6 The below works concerned a Peugeot 5008 equipped with a turbo-charged EP6 engine (156 HP version).Same or similar 1.6VTi and 1.6 THP EP6 engines can be found on Peugeot 207, 208, 308, 508, 3008, 5008 and Citroen C4, C4 Sedan, DS3, DS4, DS5 also the Mini Cooper S.

Context and preparatory works

Start by:
  • Disconnecting the battery
  • Removing the turbo air inlet hose
  • Removing the air box
  • Removing the air filter inlet hose
  • Unscrewing and putting aside the brake fluid box
  • Removing the battery cover and battery
  • Removing the battery tray

Now proceed as follows:
  • Remove the air filter and air filter housing
  • Remove the high pressure air hose from turbo to inlet hose
You can now see the inlet air collector. The canister valve and vapor hose are just beneath and attached to it.

Canister purge valve (EVAP solenoid valve) removal

Remove the inlet hose that connects to the throttle body.​Remove the five nuts that hold the inlet collector to the cylinder head.Gently push it back. ​The canister purge valve (foreground) along with the turbo regulation valve (bottom of picture) can be both seen attached to the collector in this picture: Picture Look at the new vapor purge valve to understand where and how to disconnect the hoses, then pull out the valve of its support and take out the whole set. Low pressure fuel and fuel vapor hoses (EVAP) replacement, if needed

It is the right opportunity to replace the low pressure fuel hose and its twin fuel vapor hose in case you need to do so.This is particularly true if the fuel hose connector to the high pressure fuel pump HPFP is damaged .Start by draining the fuel hose with a home-made tool as shown (left, click here for more details), then uncouple the hoses: Remove the clips that hold the hoses to their supports on the cylinder head.Fit the new ones.
