How to Save MirandaBy Samuel ClaibornKBABZBob+77.8k moreUpdated: Aug 12, 2021 6:16am UTC

This page of IGN's Mass Effect 3 wiki guide details everything you need to know about saving Miranda. For the sake of spoilers, we'll leave it at that for now.

Obviously, this page has MASSIVE SPOILERS for Mass Effect 3. READ WITH CAUTION.

Priority: Horizon Finale

The moment this page deals with is the end of one of the last Missions in the game, Priority: Horizon. At the end of this Mission, there will be a confrontation with you, Henry Lawson, his daughter Oriana, and possibly his other daughter Miranda.

There are many factors that determine what the exact sequence of events will be here, and what options you can take. The primary factor, as you may have guessed, is whether or not Miranda survived the Suicide Mission in Mass Effect 2.

First, you'll enter the room and meet up with Miranda, if she survived the Suicide Mission. After this, you'll be presented with a Reputation Check (and the "Your legacy?" Investigate option):

  • If you can pass the Reputation Check, you'll be able to use the "I can be reasonable" Charm option or the "I will hunt you down" Intimidate option. This convinces Henry to release Oriana.
    • If Miranda's present, she'll kill Henry before he can leave.
    • If Miranda isn't present, you'll get a Renegade Interrupt that lets you kill him before he can leave. If you ignore it, Henry will escape with his life.

You'll otherwise have to pick "I just want Oriana". There are many ways this can play out, starting with a Renegade Interrupt to shoot Oriana in the leg and distract Henry:

  • If you ignore this Interrupt, the following may happen:
    • If Miranda is present, she'll kill Henry, but Henry is able to fatally shoot her, and Miranda WILL die no matter what.
    • If Miranda isn't present, Oriana will struggle, resulting in her and Henry falling through the broken window behind them. Both will die.
  • If you do take the Renegade Interrupt, you'll shoot Oriana in the leg, and the following may happen:
    • If Miranda is present, she'll slay Henry with her biotics, saving Oriana.
    • If Miranda isn't present, you'll get a second Renegade Interrupt to shoot Henry in the head, killing him.
      • If you ignore the second Renegade Interrupt, Shepard will let Henry flee with his life.

After this, you'll now have a moment with Miranda if she is present. This is when the big check will happen that determines if she lives. There are two conditions that are checked, with an extra check for if you Romanced her in Mass Effect 2:

  • You MUST have either completed Miranda's Loyalty Mission in Mass Effect 2, OR warned her about Kai Leng in your second conversation on the Citadel, after the Cerberus Coup.
    • Warning Miranda about Kai Leng requires you to first read his Dossier via your Private Terminal on the Normandy or Personal Apartment. You can then tell her about him in your second conversation; if you don't then you've missed your chance.
    • If you started with Mass Effect 3 and went through the Genesis 2 comic, then you MUST have picked "Resolve the conflicts" when it pops up: this mean you completed Miranda's Loyalty Mission.
  • During your third meeting on the Citadel, after Priority: Perseus Veil, you MUST allow Miranda access to Alliance resources. Missing this meet-up will be considered NOT giving her access.
  • Romance only: you MUST NOT break up with Miranda at any point in Mass Effect 3. If you do, Miranda will die.
    • The only way to avoid this is to lock in a different Romance before breaking up with her; this safely removes the break-up choice from her conversations.

If you are able to pass these checks, Miranda will live through her injuries. If not, she will die.
