Spinach dip is often served as a hearty party appetizer. Spinach dip is a mixture of fresh or frozen chopped spinach and sour cream, cream cheese or mayonnaise. Spices such as garlic are often added, as are finely chopped vegetables, such as carrots and celery, and even crab meat or artichokes. As the recipes for spinach dip vary, so do the methods of its presentation and serving.

Step 1

Serve your spinach dip in a bread bowl. A bread bowl can be created by cutting the top off of a round loaf of bread, such as sourdough or pumpernickel. Scoop the interior of the bread out and cut it into cubes to be used as dipping pieces. Place the bowl on a serving platter and fill it with dip. Surround the bread bowl with the dipping pieces and other chopped bread pieces, such as pita and baguette slices, to be used to eat with the dip.

Step 2

Serve your spinach dip in a ceramic serving dish surrounded by bread slices, vegetables such as mini carrots or celery, and crackers or melba toast. Include a serving spoon and individual plates so guests can take small portions to eat away from the serving area.

Step 3

Serve your spinach dip hot as a side for a meal. Not all spinach dip recipes are appetizing served hot. However, more elaborate spinach dips are made in the oven and include various cheeses in their creation. The hot dip can be served as part of a meal in an individual portion size while still hot. Make cold crudites, plain crackers and bread sticks available to eat with the dip.
