How to TeleportBy Luis Joshua GutierrezSamuel HeaneyDan Hammill+39.9k moreUpdated: Oct 7, 2021 8:56pm UTC

Teleporting in Minecraft is one of the easiest ways to traverse its sprawling world. Most people consider it cheating in Survival worlds – after all, teleporting requires the use of console commands – but there's no doubt it'll make your time with Minecraft a lot less tedious. While the basics of teleporting are simple, anyone willing to dig a bit deeper will find a complex system that offers a wild degree of flexibility. It takes a bit to master, but there's no doubt it's worth every second of your time.

Using the Teleport Command

The first thing you'll need to do is pull up the command console, which can be done by pressing "/" on PC. This will open a dialogue box that allows you to enter in a variety of commands – one of which lets you teleport.

With the command console open, you'll need to type in "/tp" or "/teleport" to begin the process, followed by the destination you'd like to move to. A variety of options are available, including specific coordinates, relative coordinates, or even the name of another player. For example:

  • tp x y x will teleport you to the location on the map with those exact coordinates. Replace each letter with a number that corresponds to your preferred destination. Adding an "~" before a value will change it to a relative position instead of an absolute position.
  • tp <destination> will move you to the location of another object or player. Replace <destination> with the name of another player on the server or any other unique ID.</destination>
  • tp <targets><destination> will send another player on the server to a specific location. For example, you can enter "/tp JohnSmith 200 200 200" to send player JohnSmith to the coordinates 200, 200, 200.

Minecraft Java Teleport Commands

If you're playing the Java version of Minecraft, here are some the teleport commands you can enter into the command console. Don't worry about trying to memorize them, as the game will provide you with a full list upon entering the first two letters:

  • tp <destination>
  • tp <location>
  • tp <targets><destination>
  • tp <targets><location><rotation>
  • tp <targets><location> facing <facinglocation>

MinecraftBedrock Teleport Commands

If you're playing the Bedrock version of Minecraft, here are some of the teleport commands you'll have access to. Like above, Minecraft will give you a list of available commands after entering the first few letters – depending on your platform, you might even see a list of "Teleport" options without having to enter any info:

  • tp <destination: target> [checkForBlocks: Boolean]
  • tp <victim: target><destination: target> [checkForBlocks: Boolean]
  • tp <destination: x y z> [checkForBlocks: Boolean]
  • tp <victim: target><destination: x y z> [checkForBlocks: Boolean]
  • tp <destination: x y z> facing <lookatposition: x y z> [checkForBlocks: Boolean]
