Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Aug 12, 2004 I would check the title. Most of the time you can tell by the wear if the car has 40k miles or 140k miles. #3 · Aug 12, 2004 (Edited) Moving to G.M.T.. Please, keep topics in the Windsor Forum ENGINE related. #4 · Aug 12, 2004 There's no way to tell by looking at the odo but there are dead giveways that your 30,000 mile peach may have 130 or 230k on it...look for the wear on the pedals. If they're very worn or look brand new, I'd suspect a rollover. If they're only marginally worn it's probably legit. Same thing with console tops, steering wheels, window buttons, etc. See if the apparent wear jives with the indicated mileage. #5 · Aug 12, 2004 Armrests, carpet, seats especially. Even the outside door handles will be loose feeling, etc. #6 · Aug 12, 2004 carfax would tell you, i checked out 2 stangs for whicht he owners said the car had 92k miles and 78k miles. Did a carfax, both ended up having rolled over odo's. So definitely do the carfax, but go see the car first to see if you like it. #7 · Aug 12, 2004 Check the service records, if any. See if it was serviced with a higher mileage than now. #8 · Aug 12, 2004 Can't really tell by the cars condition. Some people will take it through lots of highway mileage in favorable conditions and be anal about talking care of it, and ******** will have it ready for the junkyard in 30k. If it has been through accidents or transactions in the past, checking its vehicle history report for odometer readings will give a clue. #9 · Aug 12, 2004 I agree, use Carfax or Autocheck.com to get a vehicle history report for the car. Mustang speedos are easy to roll back or swap out with one from a lower mileage car. #10 · Aug 13, 2004 well i asked the owner to bring the title with her when she brought the cobra... it mysteriously was "hard to find" this morning... I saw the car... and it was DEFINATELY 130k!! It was the dirtiest engine compartment i have ever seen... her ad said the paint was slightly faded on top... there was no clear coat anywhere on the car... the only upside to the thing was that it was BONE stock, down to the air silencer, and it ran pretty smooth... I told her i'd "get back to her" #11 · Aug 13, 2004 Sounds like you dodged one for sure... #12 · Aug 13, 2004 Another way to tell is look at the odemeter. Usually when they roll over, the digits tend to get a little off center....top to bottom. #13 · Aug 14, 2004

Mine was like that, it hadn't rolled over, also if you hit your dash you can bounce the numbers around a little bit to make them all offset. Insert Quotes Post Reply
